Although I may not discovera wounded stranger lying on my road,when I hear of someone sufferingbeyond my human reach—somewhere in this neighborhood,this world—I will rejoice in Love's presencethat already cares for all.
I prayed—oh yes, I prayed—for all those poor, deprivedand set-upon,those chokedby the mean, the crueland the greedy.

Today I saw a burning bushand, recognizing holy ground,I doffed my earth-shoed plansto hear God speak to methat I might knowwhat I should do.

The hand that seizes lovewith fist of human willfinds it as mercury escapingthrough the fingers grasping/clutching/empty

Of being loved

The very next timeI find myself prayingto be more loving,or bleating aboutwhy I find it so hardto love more than I do,I'm going to interruptmyself and say:

On expectancy

"I pray and I pray,and the darkness goes away,"said my child.
