From Church

The demand for church

I like to think of each church that grows up in a community as that community's answered prayer for the presence of the saving Christ—the message of God's love for humanity.

Gratitude: our perennial debt

Dear Lord, here I am again—Asking, asking, asking.

The safe place

There is no little space where God is not,No crevice, cranny, fissure, scissure, slot,No corner overlooked, no hidden gateThrough which His counterfeits can infiltrate.

DID YOU EVER WONDER?

That waiting lad—five loaves and two fishes, that's all he had.
For this grand warfare let me go prepared—Never asleep, and never off my guard.

Faith's secret

I ask not for a field already grown, nor even for the cheery mustard flowerfully blown.

The door

I pushed open the door with the signCARE ABOUT OTHERS,which led up from the cellar of self.
