My
recent participation at meetings focusing on Science and Health has highlighted for me the grand privilege that is ours today: to live as Christian Scientists—as members of The Mother Church —at this momentous period in our Church's history! As students of Mary Baker Eddy's textbook, each one of us has accepted the duties both to prove the practicality of divine Science through Christian healing and to perpetuate these teachings.
The continuing debate in the United States about the right to take one's own life—with or without assistance—and the adoption by the Dutch government of laws that permit assisted suicide illustrate the degree to which suicide has become accepted by society.
