Happiness and the healing of depression
We don't have to wait for a change of circumstances to experience God-given joy.
A Young boy was whistling and humming as he strode down the street. A man observing this asked him, "What are you so happy about?" The youngster thought a moment and then replied, "Do you need something to be happy about?"
Clearly, there are certain things that do make us happy, things that are normal and appropriate and that express something of God's care for His offspring—fulfilling work, for example, or the right spot to live, or dear friends.
But as we progress in our spiritual understanding of God, we gradually stop looking so much to people, places, and things for our happiness and look increasingly to our creator, the source of true, lasting joy and satisfaction.
