Being a father or mother—still fashionable these days?

Parenting isn't simple, but grace and wisdom from our divine Parent, God, are available to each of us.

Recently I asked myself, Is being a father or mother still considered a desirable goal these days? Of course, having children remains a goal for many people! But what about being a father and being a mother? What does that mean?

Among my acquaintances there are some families in which the children are not brought up to say "father" or "mother," but to call their parents by their first names. Perhaps it is not so important how children address their parents. However, what is important is that there are enough "mothers" and "fathers," not in the sense of begetting, but in the sense of expressing spiritual qualities and concepts. Our world is in need of such tender mothering and faithful fathering.
