Christian Science starts from the premise that there is one First Cause, self-existent, eternal, infinite; one intelligence or Mind, the Being men call Spirit or God, the Principle of all true existence.
The point that Christian Scientists emphasize more than other Christians is the present necessity for healing the sick as well as the sinner.
If our critic would rely for his information upon the Christian Science text-book, and the authorized publications, he would learn that Christian Scientists do believe most definitely in the atonement—the reconciliation of man to God through Christ Jesus the Wayshower—and that if they have no outward ritual or ceremonial it is because they believe most implicitly that "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Whatever criticisms may be indulged in by the opponents of Christian Science in their efforts to discredit its claims to the serious consideration of mankind, it cannot be denied that Christ employed neither drugs, electricity, hypnotism, nor autosuggestion in his healing work, relying exclusively upon the truth, love, and power of God as the efficient remedy for all the ills that flesh is heir to.
It is quite obvious that a man who knows the truth about a mistake is in a position to correct that mistake, and it is equally clear that a man who does not understand the method whereby the mistake is corrected, is not in a position to criticize the method.
Christian Science teaches that God is Spirit, manifested as divine Life, Truth, and Love.
There has recently been accomplished in Boston a remarkable feat in the annals of newspaper publishing.

THE PERFECTION OF MAN

The teaching of Christian Science, that man is now and always has been perfect, has awakened the comment that man's salvation lies not in his present perfection, but in his perfectibility, and in answer we would ask if the all-wise and all-powerful creator, whom the prophet described as "of purer eyes than to behold evil," or as unable to conceive of an imperfect thing,—did this creator, the one God, good, deign to make man imperfect (unfinished), and leave the problem of his perfection to the chance of the ages?
