In an item in a recent issue of The Truth Seeker, surprise is expressed that Christian Scientists "have changed their foundation from love to hate," and are "actually supporting the war.
Prayer in Christian Science is not so much a pleading with God for favors as it is an understanding that already He has bestowed upon us all things good and needful; it is to realize the all-presence and the all-power of God, which of necessity destroys the human sense of sickness and sorrow as well as of sin, and thereby awakens the individual to the discernment that instead of being a helpless victim of evil and disease he has power and domination over them.

The fact that the particular creed to which our critic subscribes may differ from the spiritual interpretation of the Scriptures taught in Christian Science, in no way proves the latter to be opposed to the Bible.
A few days ago we heard a minister of the gospel mention the fact that as he goes about his pastoral duties he finds so many people who are ill and in pain.
Christian Scientists hope that The Milwaukee Leader will not insist on misrepresenting either them or their religion; but the letter from a representative of the People's Council of America and the editorial adoption thereof, were both mistaken and misleading.
It is impossible to deny that the consensus of human belief is that man is the victim of that triad of evils—sin, sickness, and death—and that nothing short of a miracle, interpreted as meaning the supernatural interposition of divine, omnipotent power, can save him.

Now

Considered in the spiritual light of Christian Science, what a wealth of meaning is found in that simple word now.
