Freed from chronic diseases
I have always been a voracious reader, with a special interest in philosophy and religion. Decades ago, I received a catalog that offered Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. I bought the book and read it through quickly, then put it away and didn’t think about it further. Nevertheless, a seed had been planted in my thought.
When I retired from my job many years later, I wasn’t feeling well. After medical tests, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, stage three kidney disease, and mild heart failure. I took pills for the heart problem but refused other medications, though I did adopt a strict diet to control the diabetes. After a few months, my blood tests showed some improvement, but I still didn’t feel well. The doctor was very concerned about the kidney problem. From what I’d read about this condition, I figured it wouldn’t be long before I would need dialysis.
One afternoon, as I was lying on my back doing stretching exercises to ease chronic aches and pains, I looked up at the ceiling and pondered the idea that consciousness is not in the body, but in God. This had been discussed in Science and Health, and I deeply sensed that it was true. I said aloud, “God is always with me, and I abide in Him.” Immediately, I felt a jolt like an electric shock go through my body, and I knew I was completely healed of all the health issues.
