Learning more about healing
We were visiting my grandparents when my throat began to feel sore. It hurt a lot. I had trouble swallowing food, and on Saturday night, my head started hurting, too.
We’d planned to drive to church in Toronto the next day. But some of the adults weren’t sure that we should go, since I was feeling so bad. I’ve grown up going to Christian Science Sunday School, so I know that my Father-Mother God is always with me, and that since there is no bad or “error” in God, there can’t be any in me, because I am made in God’s image and likeness.
I also asked my dad to pray with me, and we sang some hymns together from the Christian Science Hymnal. One of my favorites, “Mother’s Evening Prayer,” is a poem by Mary Baker Eddy set to music. It begins with these words about God: “O gentle presence, peace and joy and power” (Poems, p. 4). Another line in the poem says, “His arm encircles me, and mine, and all.” I liked that because it reminded me of a parent who always loves you and is always there for you. God will never stop loving you, and He’s always with you.
