The power of prayer during a drive
Originally published in Spanish
In 2008, my wife and I were driving from Argentina to Brazil for a long-awaited vacation. At dawn, a few kilometers before reaching the border, I began to feel ill, with a sensation of pressure in my chest and a feeling of anguish and distress. I mentally affirmed that I was created by God and therefore could only be happy and healthy.
I asked my wife to drive while I listened to a CD that included different radio programs from The Herald of Christian Science, Spanish Edition. One program spoke about gratitude, and the guests shared that gratitude is the acknowledgment of ever-present, infinite good, God, and that this good is abundant because God is omnipresent and always companions us.
This helped me understand that I had no reason to feel ill or anxious, including during this vacation for which my wife and I had been waiting for so long. I kept praying and thinking about the infinite good that fills all space, and I trusted that I could experience God’s goodness every moment of our trip.
