No formulas in healing
One of the main takeaways for me when I had Christian Science Primary class instruction was that there are no formulas for praying for healing. I already knew this to be the case, but the in-depth study during this two-week course reinforced the importance of understanding this. Recently, however, I fell into the trap of looking for a formula to use in praying about an issue with my feet.
After training for months, I had traveled to a city I had never been to before in a country hundreds of miles from my own to take part in a long race. My family and I arrived two days before the race and spent that day wandering around the city sightseeing. This was during a heat wave, so I wore sandals.
After arriving back at the hotel that evening, I noticed that both feet had been badly chafed in places and that a large blister was forming. These were not ideal conditions for the fifty-kilometer race I would be running 36 hours later. I was angry at myself for not having worn socks and comfortable shoes for our sightseeing.
