Christian Science found me

Originally published in Spanish

I had been searching for a path of light and peace when Christian Science found me, and since then it has changed my life. It was on a day when I heard about a study group that was meeting at the house of a person I knew. I normally wouldn’t have asked what the meeting was about, but on this occasion, without knowing why, I felt compelled to. The woman told me the group got together regularly to read the Bible and another book in order to learn more about God. Spontaneously, I asked her if I could come to the meeting, and she said, “Of course!” Afterward I understood where the impulse to ask had come from.

I had always believed in God, and was looking for something that would satisfy me and help me understand who I was and what my purpose was in life. So I went to the meeting.

From the very beginning, I felt blessed. We studied the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer of Christian Science, and I was finding the answers I was looking for: about creation, who God the creator is, who I am, and who I belong to. Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health, “Material sense does not unfold the facts of existence; but spiritual sense lifts human consciousness into eternal Truth” (p. 95). I feel I was lifted into this Truth as I became acquainted with God through the study of Christian Science, the Science of Christ that Jesus demonstrated.
