Poisonous sting neutralized

As we go through our day, it can often feel as though our experience is a mixed bag of joy and sorrow, health and illness. Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy describes a different view—one that I have taken to heart and often seen demonstrated in my experience. In the Glossary of Science and Health, the definition of day includes this explanation: “The objects of time and sense disappear in the illumination of spiritual understanding, and Mind measures time according to the good that is unfolded” (p. 584).

Whenever I let the objects of time and sense (whatever is reported by the five physical senses) disappear from my thought, I see more of the day that God creates, completely good and full of joy. As I have done this, I have also been healed of many instances of inharmony, including illness and the effects of accidents. If the healing is not quick, I remember to measure time as Mind, God, does and to see what good has been unfolding.

I had a healing that illustrates these ideas after getting stung on the bottom of my foot. I didn’t see what had stung me, but there was a lot of pain. Immediately, I thought of this statement in Science and Health: “Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God’s unerring direction and thus bring out harmony” (p. 424).
