Journey home

The Master taught of a lost boy who
along the scorching road
with filthy feet
empty belly
and aching heart
“came to himself.” Luke 15:17

To where?
To himself

to the self
  that is no separate sense of self at all
to the self
  that is the divine idea made visible
to the self
  that is ready to burn the old robes and wash
to the self
  that is unstained, unashamed, intact
to the self
  that is ready for the cool, living water of the Christ
to the self
  that is welcomed by the Father, who knew
  all along he could never truly leave home.
