Good management
I pray to know that each person reports, as I do, directly to God.
Over many years in the same line of work, I have experienced a long line of managers who were less than ideal. In fact, I felt they were incompetent, insecure, controlling, burnt out, and quite often fearful of change. Now that I’m a manager myself, I can understand the pressures they were under and empathize, but I don’t want to make the same mistakes.
As a Christian Scientist, I turn to prayer, starting each day by prayerfully declaring that the colleagues in my care are, like me, under God’s direct supervision. I think of the opening lines of Hymn 437 in the Christian Science Hymnal: Hymns 430–603:
