Divine power restores voice

The following healing has been very meaningful to me over the years as a reminder that Christian Science healing is quick and complete. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer of Christian Science, explains this spiritual method of healing in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, which fulfilled the prophecy of “the little book” in the angel’s hand in the revelation of St. John in the Holy Bible (see Revelation 10:1, 2).

One night I was scheduled to sing at the campus coffee house of the college I attended. But when I woke up that morning, I couldn’t speak above a hoarse whisper, let alone sing. I called home and asked my dad, a Christian Scientist, to pray for me, then spent the entire morning and a good part of the afternoon praying as well, holding to many of the Bible-based truths that I had learned to trust throughout my childhood. 

As the day unfolded, I periodically wrestled with the question of whether I should cancel my singing engagement that evening. I did not cancel, but decided to expect healing and prove my God-derived freedom as I kept my thoughts on Him and listened for divine Love’s healing message to unfold in my waiting thought. I had experienced such freedom often throughout my life as I depended solely on divine power to heal me in times of need.
