Home for parent quickly found
After my mom’s passing a few years ago, I traveled to see my dad. He’d been living alone for a few months in the home that he and Mom had shared. Right away it was clear that a change of home was needed. Dad had not been feeling well, and with his blessing I contacted a Christian Science practitioner, who agreed to pray for him and support our efforts to find a solution for his next home.
Previously, my family had decided that when the time came, Dad would live with, or at least close to, one of us. At this point, I was the most likely one to accommodate this. However, my condo was not big enough for the two of us, and there seemed to be no available and affordable condos in my neighborhood. I had only a week’s vacation before I had to return to my teaching position, and the prospects seemed bleak. What was I going to be able to figure out for Dad in such a short time? We needed a solution, and quickly!
When I spoke with the practitioner the following day, it became clear that God’s loving care for my dad was in place and that I could trust God in every way. At that moment it was about trust. And even though we didn’t know where Dad would be going next, Dad agreed that I should begin packing up his house and getting it ready to sell.
