No more motion sickness
A few years ago my family and I took a cruise. I had been prone to motion sickness my whole life, so before the cruise I prayed with these verses from Psalm 139: “If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me” (verses 9, 10).
On the first day of the cruise, the ocean was rough, and many people became sick, including me. Some in my family asked me why I didn’t take medication for seasickness. I told them I wanted to rely on prayer. I felt discouraged, however, and went to bed.
In the morning I was no better. I called a Christian Science practitioner, told her the situation, and asked her to pray for me. She readily agreed and said that we could say to disease, “Thus far and no farther” (Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 124). She reminded me that Jesus spoke to disease with authority, knowing its unreality and powerlessness. After hearing those words, I felt a great sense of peace and was instantly well. I took a shower and was ready for a full day of activities.
