What Christians can expect
As Christians, we’re bearing witness to the supremacy of God, good, not just gaining some temporary human reward.
There’s joy and healing in acquainting ourselves with God—the infinite, divine Spirit, Love. So, what is it that those who faithfully follow in the footsteps of Jesus can expect on the road to finding more of the divine goodness that he so consistently proved? What does it mean to be front and center in discovering the wonderful, fundamental reality of the Life that is God? Christ Jesus’ example suggests that to be a Christian is to have an ongoing prayer-based journey that includes both a responsibility and all that we’ll need to fulfill it.
Jesus said, “Freely ye have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8). The playing out of our Christian responsibility is about giving of ourselves as Jesus did. This giving is more than human goodness. It is the fulfillment of our spiritual identity, presented in the Bible as “very good”—the expression of God, Mind, in the divine qualities of intelligence, grace, love, and so on.
We might ask ourselves why Jesus gave so much of himself. Why did he carry out a ministry of healing full-time and then allow himself to be crucified?
