Freed of dizziness
Early one morning in June 2022, as my family and I were set to leave on vacation, I awoke feeling extreme vertigo. Having experienced dizziness on other occasions, I expected it to go away quickly, as it had before. But when it didn’t, I became frightened. I contacted a Christian Science practitioner for metaphysical treatment and explained that we had a 12-hour drive ahead of us, part of which I would be responsible for. The practitioner agreed to pray for me while we traveled.
As my husband began driving and our children settled back to sleep, I closed my eyes and began to pray earnestly. This quiet time in the car allowed me to affirm my oneness with my Father-Mother God as Her beloved child, as I do every morning. At first, it was quite a struggle to stay focused on God in prayer while the problem seemed so large. But I remembered something I’d read in a Sentinel article about God, divine Love, turning “thought away from ‘how big is my need’ to ‘how great is God’s love’ ” (Judith Hardy Olson, “Get ‘tough,’ ” March 7, 1994).
I persisted in praying, knowing that the practitioner was also praying for me. I realized that where I was physically was of zero importance in this situation. Regardless of location, I was with God, completely held in Her love.
