Cataracts gone

Over twenty years ago, an eye doctor told me cataracts were developing in my eyes. Because of what I had been learning about God through my study of Christian Science, I was not frightened by the diagnosis. I knew that it was not based on divine Truth, the Science of being—what God knows. I saw the symptoms as pictures in thought that were based on a mistaken view of me as both material and diseased. 

In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy writes, “Health is not a condition of matter, but of Mind; nor can the material senses bear reliable testimony on the subject of health. The Science of Mind-healing shows it to be impossible for aught but Mind to testify truly or to exhibit the real status of man. Therefore the divine Principle of Science, reversing the testimony of the physical senses, reveals man as harmoniously existent in Truth, which is the only basis of health; and thus Science denies all disease, heals the sick, overthrows false evidence, and refutes materialistic logic” (p. 120).

As I prayed daily, I affirmed that I am a spiritual idea—safe in God, the divine Mind, and expressing only health, harmony, wholeness, and clarity of vision. I knew that since God, Spirit, is its source, my real vision is spiritual and is therefore both indestructible and inseparable from health. I trusted this truth.
