Biking freely again
I would like to give gratitude for a quick healing I had when visiting family this past spring. One afternoon, my boyfriend and I went for a bike ride, soaking in the sunshine and appreciating our time together. We stopped for lunch, and as I dismounted my bike, I slammed my knee against my bike rack. The pain was so severe that I began to feel faint, so I found a seat and began to pray.
My boyfriend was very supportive and encouraged me to align my thought with good by stating things we were grateful for. Having grown up practicing Christian Science, I’ve found that focusing on what I am grateful to God for is reliable and meaningful in bringing about healing. This mental shift away from the physical difficulty brought some relief from the pain, and I was able to ride back to the house and finish the tasks I’d planned for that afternoon.
That evening, however, I noticed that my knee had become swollen and discolored, and when my boyfriend and I went to watch the sunset, I was unable to walk without extreme discomfort. I began to worry that I would not be able to ride my bike to visit my grandmother the following morning. Since I did not have access to a car, biking was the only way I would be able to see her.
