Whooping cough quickly healed
When I was around eight, I was sent home from school with whooping cough. Large quarantine signs were posted on our house, and I wasn’t allowed to go outside or play with any of the neighborhood kids. I really didn’t understand the seriousness of the quarantine until I was confined indoors for many days.
I had learned in Christian Science Sunday School that God is Love and cares tenderly for His children. I knew that my parents loved me, too, and that they were doing everything possible to make me comfortable while also obeying the health laws of the school and the state.
