Quick recovery from foot injury

“You cannot fall off the earth” were the first words of a Christian Science practitioner whom I’d asked to pray for me. I had fallen down two flights of stairs in our church building and was on the verge of passing out. Her unexpected humor lightened the moment and made me smile, reminding me that the notion of falling out of God’s care is equally ridiculous.

From my study of Christian Science, I knew that God is Love and fills all space, so I could no more leave the spiritual foundation of being God’s, Spirit’s, perfect, beloved, and cared-for child than I could fall off the face of the earth.

The practitioner kindly offered to take me home, but at first I was in such intense pain that I could not get up or walk. I told her I feared that my foot was broken. She replied with total conviction that my foot could not be broken because God’s spiritual idea cannot be damaged or hurt.
