Scorpion sting healed
When my wife and I were staying with a friend on her ranch in Texas, I had an opportunity to see the practicality of this statement from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: “All of God’s creatures, moving in the harmony of Science, are harmless, useful, indestructible” (p. 514).
I was making up our bed in the morning in her guest room when I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my hand as I tucked in the bedspread. I had been stung by a scorpion that must have crawled up from behind the bed. I quickly withdrew my hand and started to pray. Our friend took the scorpion outside, where it belonged.
Why would I pray at a time like that? I had attended Christian Science Sunday School as a boy, and our family had met many challenges through prayer. As an adult, I have continued to study the Bible and Mrs. Eddy’s writings, and I strive to put this Science of the Christ into practice. When problems come up, it’s natural for me to start praying as taught in Christian Science.
