Love’s presence, felt, cures child
Not long after finding Christian Science, I experienced a healing that set my trust in God’s care on a very firm foundation. Previous to this, I was a sincere Christian who loved God and Jesus, earnestly studied the Bible, and committed myself to Christian teachings. I considered spiritual healing a possibility, although not as a consistent daily practice.
In taking up the study of Christian Science, I began to see healing through prayer in a new light. I saw that it was more reliable than just a hope or faith that healing might be granted. I was beginning to see that a practical Christianity grounded in God’s laws and government was reliable. This Christianly scientific approach gave me confidence to apply it when my eldest child was about four years old and unwell, with a high temperature.
What stands out clearly to me is that partway through the day, while tenderly holding my daughter and reaching out to God, divine Love, in prayer, I felt a tangible presence of love encompass us. My consciousness was so filled with divine Love that everything unlike Love was excluded. In an instant, I went from being very fearful about my daughter’s well-being to being completely at peace. The absolute assurance that God, Love, was with us negated the fear and brought healing. In that moment, my daughter’s temperature dropped to a normal level, and she was well.
