Fear of flying overcome
In the summer of 2019, my husband and I began planning a trip to Scotland and Ireland for the following summer. We are avid motorcycle riders, and my husband’s “bucket list” included riding a motorcycle through Scotland. I wanted to support my husband. But at that time, I had not flown for 18 years. On my last flight, the plane had experienced turbulence, despite flying in clear blue skies, and then six months later the September 11, 2001, tragedy occurred. I became fearful of flying.
As a lifelong student of Christian Science, I knew I could be healed of this fear. Over my lifetime, I have experienced many healings from applying the truths we learn through study of the Bible and of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. I’d had a beautiful healing of a broken leg, and had also experienced pain-free childbirth as well as healings of colds, flu, childhood diseases for my children, and many other challenges.
I dug into each week’s Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly, looking for ideas pertinent to this need. I also read many articles in the Christian Science periodicals. New spiritual insights came with this study.
