Forever enveloped in Love

The spiritual understanding of God’s goodness and of our relation to God can never fail.

Years ago there was an American television series about Eliot Ness, a famous real-life federal agent, titled The Untouchables. As I watched a few episodes, I learned that it was Ness and his team of crime fighters who were considered “untouchable” because they were standing for good—they were known for being especially dedicated and unbribable.

This made me ponder what Christian Science teaches about the spiritual understanding of God’s goodness, and of man—each individual—as God’s spiritual likeness, as well as about what appears to be an opposite power called evil. A sense of personal goodness is not always sufficient to protect us, but the spiritual understanding of God’s goodness and of our relation to God can never fail.

The Bible is full of instances of protection, not only from physical danger and accident but also from sickness, sin, and death. Christ Jesus’ whole career involved proving man’s complete exemption from all evil.
