You are compassionate, Lord
Amid distrust and fear,
amid the gloom of my life,
in darkness and dread,
my course I sought to understand.
In a sea of doubt and loneliness,
with no certain course before me,
in the anguish of my heart,
Your voice made itself known to me.
I was bitter and distressed,
but Your liberating protection
sought out and heard my cry,
healing all my pain.
My call reached You;
Your light made itself known to me;
my prayer, You did not despise;
angels, You sent to assist me.
In Your Word I have planted my feet,
because it saved me from the swamp,
from all anguish; I have broken free.
Finding my course has comforted me.
Miguel De Castro
