Instantly well
Recently, I awoke in the middle of the night feeling suddenly very ill. There had been many reports on the news about diseases, contagious and otherwise, and food-related illnesses.
At first I wondered what the cause might have been. I got up and went to my office in our home. Feeling the need for spiritual inspiration, I turned to the current week’s Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly and found this statement from page 14 of the Christian Science textbook: “Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,—neither in nor of matter,—and the body will then utter no complaints” (Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures).
Even that brief realization that “Life and intelligence are purely spiritual” woke me up to the fact that sickness is merely a belief, without truth; God’s—Life’s—creation, being spiritual, cannot be sick. Instantly the sense of sickness left, and I felt perfectly normal again. I went back to bed and slept soundly.
