Choosing Christian Science
It is with great gratitude that I love to say I have always been blessed by Christian Science. From early childhood, when I attended a Christian Science Sunday School, I was glad to think of myself as a Christian Scientist and to be able to turn to God for every need.
When I was a young adult in my first year of college, I joined the Christian Science organization (CSO) there and also became a member of The Mother Church—The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston—which gave me the pleasure of reading from the Bible and its companion book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, at CSO meetings.
During this time, I also began dating a young man at the college. He was very respectful and pleasant to be around, and I appreciated that he regularly attended his own church. However, on our dates we went to many parties that included drinking and smoking. I had always been very much opposed to cigarettes and alcohol, but I found myself joining in.
