Freedom from flu symptoms
It has been my morning routine for many years, before my head ever leaves the pillow, to say, “Thank you, God, for this beautiful day! Today is the day that God made, and I will be glad and rejoice in it.”
However, one morning recently I awoke and did not feel well. I thought, “Oh, I’d better stay in bed and rest. I am not well.” I had all the symptoms of the flu. At first, I was tempted to listen to these thoughts and stay in bed. But instead, I sat up, thanked God for the day, and proceeded to get up.
I decided to call a Christian Science practitioner for treatment through prayer. When I reached the practitioner, the words that came out of my mouth kind of surprised me. I said, “I’m calling because I have flu symptoms, but I don’t want to entertain thoughts of sickness. I’d like to spend this day getting to know God better.” The practitioner agreed to pray for me.
