Skin condition healed
A few years ago I discovered a patch of abnormal skin growth on my scalp. It grew so big you could sometimes see it through my hair. I felt very self-conscious about it, which made me uncomfortable around other people.
At first, I hoped the condition would eventually clear up on its own, but it did not. I tried changing my shampoo, but that did not help. Numerous times in my life, prayer has healed or resolved various difficulties, and I finally began to pray about this issue. I also asked a Christian Science practitioner for Christian Science treatment.
The practitioner prayed for me for several weeks, and during this time we exchanged ideas that came to us from our prayers and study of the weekly Bible Lessons found in the Christian Science Quarterly. One thought that she shared with me was to keep in mind that my identity is not material but spiritual as the pure, perfect, and unblemished idea of God. I knew I had to let go of a material, imperfect sense of self, but I found this difficult, because every morning what I saw with my eyes and felt with my hands was the abnormal skin on my head. However, I knew this was not what God saw in me.
