Healing of injured foot at summer camp
I’ve spent many summers at a camp for Christian Scientists. For me, these summers have served as an incredible way to learn more about God.
In 2018 I was a counselor, and one morning as I ran down the beach and into the lake for our daily morning dip, my foot hit a rock under the water, and there was sharp pain through my toe. Typically, I jump out of the water quickly to grab my towel and warm up. However, this time I struggled to stand and immediately had trouble walking. At first, I didn’t give the situation much thought and tried to just “shake it off” through human will—something I’d done too often.
At camp, we are very busy; we run around, have all sorts of games and activities, and walk everywhere—sometimes uphill both ways! The pain in my foot was reminding me of how constantly active we are.
