Quick recovery after bike accident
A number of years ago, following my graduation from college, it was a difficult time. I wasn’t sure of my career direction or even my next step! But that summer I had taken Primary class instruction, a course in the fundamental truths of Christian Science that enable one to practice Christian healing. It was an illuminating time, in which I learned that I wanted to serve God in my life—no matter what that looked like.
I continued to listen and pray, and accepted a part-time job. I often rode my bike to work and found I needed to stay on the sidewalks, as there wasn’t enough of a shoulder on the road for cars to pass me safely.
One day, my handlebars clipped the side of a heavy trash can on the sidewalk, and I fell sideways into the road—and into oncoming traffic. An approaching car stopped just in time. The driver asked if I was all right. I hopped up quickly, sheepishly assuring him I was fine, and walked around the corner to a quiet street. I was pretty shaken up, as I had hit the road with some force, with my elbow and leg taking most of the impact. In the past, I would have bruised easily and quite severely in an incident such as this.
