The thunder of a spiritual idea
Is it possible to have an idea “thunder” in your thought? This idea once thundered into mine: “right here, right now.”
It came to me years ago, when my husband got laid off just one month before Christmas. We were already financially strapped and stressed taking care of our multigenerational family. But what followed this distressing news was a profound spiritual idea: “right here, right now.” I knew where this came from. God constantly communicates to human consciousness through the Christ, the divine Truth Jesus represented, and God’s angel message broke through the mesmerism of doubt and fear with the assurance that we would have all we needed right where we were, every moment.
This was a wake-up call for me to realize that God, good, is always present, and that all the good we need humanly is provided for us by divine Love. It isn’t that God gives us material things, but that He gives us the intelligence and discernment that direct our human footsteps and inspire us to find the right solutions. God’s omnipresence means we have the opportunity to turn away from the limited narrative of bad options to see our lives from a God-given, limitless, spiritual foundation. Mary Baker Eddy, Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, put it simply in her book Miscellaneous Writings 1883–1896: “God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies” (p. 307). These spiritual ideas lead to higher views and possibilities. They are constantly being communicated and are instantly available through the simple act of humbly listening to God.
