Thank you for the October 15, 2018, issue of the Sentinel, “Widening the scope of our prayers.” I have often been struck by the specificity of the Fourth Commandment, “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.” It directs us to include son, daughter, manservant, maidservant, stranger, and even cattle in this sacred day (see Exodus 20:8–11). It reminds me that there is no true Sabbath—no holy day—unless all creation is included in my prayers. Thank you for all the love you pour into every Christian Science periodical!

Recently our cat went missing for several days. As I prayed, I realized she was safe because she was God’s loved idea, and every creature around her was also God’s perfect idea. I was not praying to protect one idea from another idea; I was seeing each idea as safe in God’s care.
