Testimony meetings give glory to God
A white-haired man rose slowly to his feet. With a heavy accent, he told his heart-rending story of finding Christian Science in a German prisoner-of-war camp during World War I, and how it saved his life.
I heard this testimony in a small, storefront Church of Christ, Scientist, one cold Wednesday night in Chicago over thirty years ago. And though I’ve probably heard thousands of testimonies since then, none has had the impact that one had on me.
“God’s presence, the Christ-power, reached that man all those years ago in that hellish spot,” I reasoned. “Surely that same power and presence must be active today.” I’ve thought of that testimony often over the years, and its message of courage and salvation has inspired and fortified me.
