Gratitude for God’s guidance and healing care

As a lifelong Christian Scientist, I am very grateful for many proofs of God’s guidance and healing care. A recent healing occurred this spring when one morning I experienced a severe headache, pain throughout my body, and dizziness. I couldn’t get out of bed and was very fearful.

I was scheduled to work in the local Christian Science Reading Room that afternoon, but I had little hope that I could do this. I asked my husband to pray for me, and to notify the Reading Room’s head librarian of the need for a substitute.

One of the ideas my husband and I affirmed together was that I was God’s child, spiritual and whole right then and there. There were several statements from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy that I prayed with, including, “Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you will bring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thoughts” (p. 261), and, “A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive” (p. 463). I saw that freedom and harmony are natural to us as God’s expression.
