‘Revolutionary concepts’ lead to healing of food allergies
When our now-adult sons were in grade school, a fellow mom invited me to a Christian Science lecture. She asked, “Have you ever heard of Christian Science?” My answer was, “No.” I don’t recall the rest of the conversation, but I accepted her invitation.
I don’t recall the title of the lecture or the name of the lecturer, but I definitely remember the deep permeating feeling: This is it. This is the Truth you’ve been searching for. My friend kindly gave me a copy of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
Although I’d grown up in a family where participating in church activities and reading the Bible were of utmost importance, I’d never even heard, or considered, that prayer heals. I had read the Bible, but hadn’t yet read the “key” to its deeper healing message. This “key,” the spiritual sense of the Scriptures presented in Science and Health, was an enormous light, shining a loving spiritual sense on very familiar Bible passages.
