Severe burns healed
Although I have experienced a myriad of blessings since I became a student of Christian Science in 1997, this is the first time that I have submitted a written experience of healing for publication in our denomination’s periodicals. It is high time I did so! This particular experience was especially meaningful to me because it illustrated the tremendous healing gift that Christian Science presents to the world and the unique role that Christian Science nurses have in supporting healing.
One morning, I was pouring boiling water into a glass kettle when the kettle exploded, sending water streaming down my legs. This initially caused me shock and a lot of pain. I knew from the outset that I wanted to rely on Christian Science to address this situation. Based on past experience, I was confident that complete healing would result.
I immediately called a Christian Science practitioner—someone who answers requests from the public for healing of problems of all kinds through prayer—and asked her to pray for me. The practitioner gladly agreed to provide Christian Science treatment through prayer and reminded me that because God is All and I am God’s spiritual expression, there was never an instant where I could be harmed or separated from divine Love. After I spoke with the practitioner for only a few minutes, the pain subsided.
