‘Life is not dog-shaped!’
When I have been confronted with challenges, I have always gone back to considering my relation to God, and how God’s being and presence define what I am.
The Bible states, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness” (Genesis 1:26). And in her primary work, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy assigns seven synonyms to God: Principle, Mind, Soul, Spirit, Life, Truth, Love. It is natural for us to see that we each reflect and express the fullness of God.
Praying with those synonyms to get a clearer understanding of the nature of Deity, and of my own expression of God’s being, has caused me to look at how these terms are expressed through me. I love the idea that these synonyms help us discover the infinite spiritual qualities that make up God’s nature, and that we include them all as God’s reflection.
