Emergency while eating resolved quickly

I would like to share a decisive and immediate healing resulting from my understanding and application of one clear truth stated in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. On page 463 it says, “A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive.”

One evening during dinner I was enjoying a delicious, crunchy cabbage salad. Suddenly I experienced a very sharp, intense pain, below my throat but above my stomach. Something I had swallowed seemed to be lodged in a place where normal coughing or throat clearing had no effect. The aggressive suggestion that the only way this could be removed was by surgery seemed to flood my thought.

As an earnest student of Christian Science, I knew there was another option for me. I rejected the thought that surgery was my only choice. I turned wholeheartedly to God. I have relied exclusively on God as “a very present help in trouble” (Psalms 46:1) for many years, and this has resulted in many healings. I just knew that I could be helped out of this trouble too! I declared aloud, “I do not need surgery to remove this thing!” God was my choice.
