To ‘have the mind of Christ’
The Bible urges us to “let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5). But what does it mean to “have the mind of Christ” (I Corinthians 2:16)?
This is a question I often asked myself when I began studying Christian Science as a teenager. I was still attending Sunday School in another church at the time, and it was there I learned the importance of being a follower of Christ Jesus. But it was Christian Science that helped me get a clear understanding of what that means.
One of the first things I learned to appreciate in the writings of Mary Baker Eddy is that Mind—with a capital M—is one of seven synonyms for God prominently used in explaining the divine Science of Christ. In her book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mrs. Eddy explains that God, infinite Mind, is the only creator. Mind’s creations are Mind’s own spiritual ideas. And if God made everything good—as the Bible assures us He did—how could God be the creator of sickness, sin, or any other evil?
