Stomach issue on trip healed
My mother and I had gone overseas to visit an aunt who had recently moved abroad. The three of us had rented a car and were spending a month exploring. We were having a wonderful time until one night something I had eaten or drunk at a popular neighborhood restaurant did not agree with me.
My aunt was quite concerned and thought we should call a doctor or go to a hospital. I assured her, and my mother did too, that that would not be necessary. We knew that God, the “great Physician” (Mary Baker Eddy, Miscellaneous Writings 1883–1896, p. 151), was with us, and that we could trust Him to care for us in every way. We both were raised in Christian Science and had seen many times how prayer, based on a spiritual understanding of God and of man’s relationship to Him, brings healing. Although we were thousands of miles from home, that had no bearing on our closeness to our Father-Mother God, divine Love, who was right there to meet our every need.
I assured my aunt that I was not ignoring the situation or being foolhardy. I was praying and relying on God’s universal law of health and harmony. My mother and I knew that God, divine Principle, is the true source of all being, the only genuine, creative, and governing power, and that a spiritual understanding of this would bring healing.
