‘God is in charge’
This past scholastic year represented an important step in my progress in my graduate program. There were preliminary exams that permitted me to start working on my dissertation project.
The exams included reading lists. To make a long story short, I read a good hundred literary works in about six months, leaving myself about a month to identify and outline what I was going to do for my dissertation. It felt impossible, a hit-or-miss situation. So I turned to prayer, and I also called a Christian Science practitioner for help.
As I worked with her, read the Christian Science Bible Lesson every day, and prayed, I began to see that this wasn’t about me and my personal abilities; it was about finding the perception and ability to do what I needed to do by leaning on God. An important turning point in my prayer and preparation for the exams came just two weeks beforehand.
