Injury healed and full hearing restored
Recently I tackled repurposing a room, which required moving heavy furniture, covering carpeting, and painting very high walls. I proceeded joyously while I prayerfully acknowledged that Mind, God, was directing me, and that because my real individuality was His reflection, I possessed all the strength, intelligence, and energy necessary to complete the task.
On the final day, my foot caught the electrical cord of a heavy metal table lamp, which tumbled to the floor. The lamp did not break because it fell on my sock-covered toe, which was now in great pain. Immediately I insisted that as God’s spiritual idea, I couldn’t be hurt.
I also recalled Mary Baker Eddy’s statement in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, “Your body would suffer no more from tension or wounds than the trunk of a tree which you gash or the electric wire which you stretch, were it not for mortal mind” (p. 393). This mortal mind is the counterfeit of the one Mind, and it has no true authority.
