Following Jesus’ example
Christ Jesus’ extraordinary life and works stand for all Christians as proof of his divine sonship. However, Jesus made it quite clear throughout his ministry that he expected all of us to follow his example in some measure—to take his teachings to heart, live them in our lives, and do the works that he did.
To most of us that can seem like an enormous assignment, but Jesus knew that God has given every person unlimited spiritual potential. He knew that if we would seek to God for spiritual nourishment each day and strive with genuine humility to assimilate spiritual lessons into our thought, character, and actions, we would grow in the grace and understanding needed to go forward—and that even the most modest gains would be accompanied by significant healing results.
In other words, Jesus knew that human beings could prove the practicality of his teachings.
