Study of the Bible Lesson brings healing
A few years ago, I experienced healing as a result of studying and praying with the spiritual ideas presented in that week’s Christian Science Bible Lesson, titled “Matter.” I seemed to have strained my lower back as a result of excess physical activity, and it was difficult for me to move about normally without experiencing considerable pain.
I read the article “Learn to refuse the myth of matter” (Nancy Fischer, September 10, 2012, Sentinel), which gave an overview of that week’s Lesson. I must admit, I was challenged by the author’s point that matter is no less a myth than the myths that were “unquestionably believed by ancient Greeks and Romans.” Putting matter in the category of a myth seemed like a pretty huge leap to make. I could see that I had some prayerful work to do to better understand this!
Of course, my desire was for a quick healing. I did not call a Christian Science practitioner for treatment in this particular instance, but I had learned from past experience that the Bible Lesson often contains just the healing truths I need. This has helped me understand that it truly is the daily bread that meets our every need.
