Sudden illness healed
Recently I had an experience that illustrated to me Mary Baker Eddy’s statement, “Love is the liberator” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 225).
I was home from college, and as I was cleaning up in the kitchen one day, I was pondering something I had learned in Christian Science: that ailments are not part of spiritual reality, but false beliefs, and that spiritually scientific prayer reveals our true, harmonious being as God’s children. I went to my room and sat down at the desk to pray with these truths further, but I suddenly felt weak and very ill.
For a moment I pondered which illness this could be, but then it occurred to me that I was doing the wrong inventory. I knew I needed to handle my thought, not focus on my body. So I prayerfully listened for ideas from God.
